“WeCrashed” will follow the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible. Leto plays the infamous, idiosyncratic CEO Adam Neumann, and Hathaway plays his wife and WeWork chief brand and impact officer Rebekah Neumann.

The creators and showrunners of the series are Lee Eisenberg (“Good Boys“) and Drew Crevello and they say Leto was back to his old tricks; they did not speak to him during the making of the series.

“We only spoke to ‘Adam Neumann,'” Crevello clarified when speaking to EW. “Jared does this complete transformation, with prosthetics and an Israeli accent,” Eisenberg adds of Leto, who can be seen in the exclusive first-look photo below with a prosthetic nose. “My father’s Israeli, and he had no notes on the accent. I was like, ‘Okay, we’re good. We’re good.'”

Principle directors on the series are John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the filmmakers behind “I Love You Phillip Morris,” “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” “Focus” with Will Smith and Margot Robbie, and an unmade Joker/Harley Quinn movie they were supposed to write and direct, but never came to pass.

The WeWork heads were nuts and eccentric (that’s a euphemism for utterly batshit CEO). As EW puts it perfectly, “Neumann’s fall from grace led to him stepping down as CEO in 2019 amid scathing reports alleging shameful treatment of staff and questionable financial practices. But the heart of the series is Neumann’s relationship with his wife, Rebekah, who faced similar allegations of eyebrow-raising behavior as a WeWork exec.”

“What separates [WeCrashed] from other things we’ve seen in this genre is that we watch the story through the prism of this couple,” Eisenberg told EW. “We see this cult of personality within the business story, and then come home with them at night.” America Ferrera, Kyle Marvin, and O. T. Fagbenle co-star. Take a look at the first “WeCrashed” image from the series below and fingers crossed we get a release date and trailer soon.
