First Look: Amanda Seyfriend In Hulu's 'The Dropout' Series About Elizabeth Holmes & Theranos

The timing is impeccable, really. We just dropped our list of the Most Anticipated TV Show & Mini-Series of 2022, and well, right on cue, Hulu has revealed the first look images of “The Dropout” series starring Amanda Seyfried and Naveen Andrews. The Hulu Original premieres with three episodes on Thursday, March 3rd, and new episodes streaming weekly.

“The Dropout” centers on the infamous, still-ongoing story of former businesswoman Elizabeth Holmes who was the founder and chief executive of Theranos, a now-defunct health technology company. In 2018, a federal grand jury indicted Holmes and former Theranos chief operating officer (COO) Ramesh Balwani on nine counts of wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud for distributing blood tests with falsified results to consumers. This was the beginning of the end for Holmes and Theranos.

Additional key takeaways? Elizabeth Meriwether, showrunner of “New Girl,” is the showrunner here, and Michael Showalter (“The Big Sick”) is the principal director of the series.

Money. Romance. Tragedy. Deception. Hulu’s limited series “The Dropout,” the story of Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried) and Theranos is an unbelievable tale of ambition and fame gone terribly wrong. How did the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire lose it all in the blink of an eye? 

Executive Producers on the series include showrunner Elizabeth Meriwether, Liz Heldens, Liz Hannah, Katherine Pope, Rebecca Jarvis, Victoria Thompson, and Taylor Dunn. Michael Showalter is set to direct multiple episodes and will also serve as an executive producer along with his Semi-Formal Productions producing partner Jordana Mollick. The series comes to Hulu from Searchlight Television and 20th Television. Check out the first look images below.
