Tom Holland hasn’t appeared on either the big or small screen since the release of “Uncharted” over a year ago. That’s going to change this June with “The Crowded Room,” a new limited series spearheaded by Executive Producer Akiva Goldsman. Apple TV+ released four new images today as a first look which also include Holland’s co-stars Amanda Seyfried and Emmy Rossum.
Inspired by Daniel Keyes’ nonfiction novel “The Minds of Billy Milligan,” “Crowded Room” is centered on Danny Sullivan (Holland), a man, according to Apple TV+’s synopsis, “who is arrested following his involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979. A captivating thriller told through a series of interviews with curious interrogator ‘Rya Goodwin’ (Seyfried), Danny’s life story unfolds, revealing elements of the mysterious past that shaped him and the twists and turns that will lead him to a life-altering revelation.”
The cast includes Will Chase, Sasha Lane, Christopher Abbott, Mark O’Brien, Jason Isaacs, and Thomas Sadoski, among others. A number of episodes, including the pilot, were directed by Kornél Mundruczó, best known for the Oscar-nominated “Pieces of a Woman” and “White God.”
Holland, who took an extended break after filming “Uncharted,” is expected to return to the MCU when a new “Spider-Man” sequel begins filming sometime in the next year or so. Seyfried, who won an Emmy Award for her acclaimed performance in “The Dropout” (and a PGA Award for producing it, too), recently completed filming Atom Egoyan’s “Seven Veils” and is expected to join Ariana DeBose in the comedy “My Ex-Friend’s Wedding” which is set to begin production sometime this summer. Best known for the long-running dramedy “Shameless,” “Crowded Room” is Rossum’s first role since her underrated turn as “Angelyne” last year.
The 10-episode series will debut Friday, June 9, with the first three episodes. One new episode will be released every Friday following through July 28.
