What happens when you do the same things with your spouse day after day for over a decade? Inevitably, you’ll either go crazy or want to shake things up, right? Well for the couple at the center of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series “Forever,” sometimes shaking it up can lead to some unexpected results.
In the first trailer for the series, you meet the couple, June and Oscar, played by the always-great Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen. While there’s almost no dialogue at all in the teaser, viewers can completely see what would lead June into wanting to mix things up. As can happen, the daily tedium can add up and suddenly, like the characters in the series, you find that 12 years have passed and your idea of excitement is sitting on a bench and reminiscing about butterflies.
“Forever” comes from co-creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard. Yang is probably best known as one half of the brain trust behind the Netflix acclaimed comedy “Master of None.” Hubbard, on the other hand, has spent his time working on series “30 Rock” and “Parks and Rec.” Needless to say, these are two people that know their way around great comedy.
Anchoring the series are the aforementioned “SNL” alums Rudolph and Armisen, who have proven over the years to be adept at making audiences laugh. So there’s no doubt these two will bring the goods.
“Forever” premieres on Amazon Prime Video on September 14.
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
Married couple June (Maya Rudolph) and Oscar (Fred Armisen) live a comfortable but predictable life in suburban Riverside, California. For 12 years they’ve had the same conversations, eaten the same meals and taken pleasant vacations at the same rented lake house. But after June talks Oscar into shaking things up with a ski trip, the pair suddenly find themselves in completely unfamiliar territory. Forever is an utterly original, insightful and poignant comedy about love, commitment, and marriage, created by Emmy Award-winning writers Alan Yang (Master of None, Parks and Recreation) and Matt Hubbard (30 Rock, Parks and Recreation).
