'Forman Vs. Forman' Trailer: Oscar-Winning Filmmaker Milos Forman Is The Subject Of This Cannes Doc

It’s been a little over a year since the passing of Oscar-winning filmmaker Milos Forman. And thanks to the people responsible for the upcoming documentary, “Forman vs. Forman,” we have a new film that is set to honor the legacy left by one of the most talented filmmakers the industry has ever seen.

In the new trailer for “Forman vs. Forman,” we see that the film utilizes the director’s own words to tell his story. From his start in the ‘60s to his breakout film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” to beyond, the doc details all the trials and tribulations that Forman went through over his decades-long career in the film industry.

As mentioned, Forman is probably best known for ‘Cuckoo’s Nest,’ which earned him one of his two Oscar trophies. However, over the course of his career, he earned even more acclaim for films like “Amadeus,” “The People v. Larry Flynt,” and “Man on the Moon.”

The film is directed by the duo of Jakub Hejna and Helena Trestíková. “Forman vs. Forman” debuted at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is set to play the upcoming Karlovy Vary Film Festival. However, no official release date has been announced outside of those festivals.

Here’s the synopsis:

Milos Forman the artist. Milos Forman the man. A filmmaker decorated with Oscars for Amadeus and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. At the same time a charismatic adventurer with the courage to question himself. The Forman vs. Forman documentary summarises the life of the most famous Czech film director whose protagonists have always fought against institutions for freedom. The film is a collage of rare archive footage and autobiographic memories narrated by the director’s son Petr Forman.
