What must be the most endearing and certainly cutest manifestation of its popularity—however—is the scores of girls dancing and singing along with their TVs as it plays. Elsa’s (Idina Menzel) performance of “Let It Go” in “Frozen” showcases not only her booming voice but her willingness to show herself—magic and all—to the world. Her powers exhibited prove to be at the heart of the action in the anticipated “Frozen II.”

Chris Buck returns to co-direct the sequel to the Best Animated Feature Oscar winner in 2014 with Jennifer Lee, also the film’s co-screenwriter. Producer Peter Del Vecho and cast members Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and Santino Fontana are also all back. Newcomers to the project include Oscar nominee Allison Schroeder (“Hidden Figures”)—sharing screenwriting duties with Lee—as well as Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown joining the cast.

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.

Additionally, a making-of series entitled “Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2” is set to be released on Disney’s brand-new streaming service Disney+ within the first year of its launch. Disney+ is scheduled to debut in the U.S. and Canada on November 12, “Frozen II”—distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures—is set to be released on November 22.
