A new trailer has dropped for the drama, “Lilly,” coming out this May. It focuses on the true life events of the late fair pay activist Lilly Ledbetter and her journey to help fellow working women who do the same work as men to move closer toward equal pay. Ledbetter was the plaintiff in the United States Supreme Court case Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. regarding employment discrimination.
Rachel Feldman (“Blue Bloods,” “The Rookie”) directs “Lilly” from a script she co-wrote alongside Adam Prince with a cast that led by veteran actress Patricia Clarkson (“Sharp Objects,” “Easy A”) as titualr working-class heroine with John Benjamin Hickey (“The Big C”), and Thomas Sadoski (“The Newsroom”) in supporting roles.
An official synopsis for the film based on a true story via Blue Harbor Entertainment:
Based on the remarkable story of Lilly Ledbetter, a hard-working Alabama tire factory supervisor whose singular goal is to lift her family into the middle class. Having grown up in poverty, she endures a work environment plagued by pervasive harassment for the sake of the best paycheck in her county. But as retirement approaches, Lilly discovers that the system has been cheating her, paying her close to half of what the men with the same job were earning. Outraged, Lilly fights this injustice to the Supreme Court, the corridors of Congress, and eventually the White House—all while powerful forces try to shut her down. Lilly follows the transformation of an ordinary citizen into the face of an issue, illuminating the impact a single courageous person can have.
“Lilly” has a producing group that consists of Allyn Stewart p.g.a., Kelly E. Ashton, Kerianne Flynn, Jyoti Sarda, Simone Pero, J. Todd Harris, Christine Schwarzman, Julie Kaufman, and Feldman.
The new fair pay drama will be exclusively heading to theaters on May 9, and you can watch the trailer for “Lilly” below.
