Got a Tip?

‘Funny People’ Viral Video: The Fake Clip Of ‘Re-Do’ Starring George Simmons, err, Adam Sandler

We told you a lot of of “Funny People” viral marketing would be coming down the pike. There’s already been the fake NBC sitcom, called “Yo Teach,” starring Jason Schwartzman, and many of the actors like comedian Aziz Ansari, have hinted that they’ll be getting some meta/viral fake film play for their characters within the picture as well.

There’s a lot of films within films as Adam Sandler’s character George Simmons is a famous stand-up comedian and actor who has had a relatively popular comedy career not unlike his own in real life. One of the films, “Redo” (once titled “Redux”), was described by director Judd Apatow as “A movie where [Sandler’s character] turns into a baby,” describing the movie as a cross between “Little Man,” and Zac Efron’s “17 Again.” “It’s Adam’s head, but on a baby’s body. It’s really funny. We actually shot a couple scenes from it.”

And indeed they did and they co-star Justin Long. Here’s the synopsis:

Craig, a workaholic lawyer, never made time for his relationships. Alone and depressed on his 40th birthday, he wonders about the life he could have led. But be careful what you wish for…you might just find yourself in diapers! When a wizard gives Craig a second chance at his youth, he discovers that sometimes it takes becoming a baby to learn how to be a man.

“Redo” according to the clip/fake trailer is “coming later this summer.” It’s marginally amusing, but we can’t say it’s as good as “Yo Teach.” Hopefully the quality increases, there’s supposed to be at least three more fake movies we should probably see viral clips (“My Best Friend is a Robot” which should co-star Owen Wilson, and “Mer-Man” with Elizabeth Banks). Also if you want to hear some of Jason Schwartzman’s “Funny People,” score, it’s playing on various parts of the official site and doesn’t sound unlike the music of his band Coconut Records or say the happier, more upbeat parts of the Loudon Wainwright III score from “Knocked Up.” Some of it’s not unlike Jon Brion too, but more simpler and stripped down, but still bouncy in spots. Maybe a mix between the two musicians.
