Harold Ramis Disses 'Indy 4': Doesn't Want 'Ghostbusters 3' To Fail That Bad; Michael Cera: Bustin' Doesn't Make Him Feel Good

Movieline has talked to Harold Ramis at the Nantucket film festival and of course the subject of “Ghostbuster 3” comes up which is being written by “Year One” scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (of “The Office” fame).

While discussing his plans for the film — which Ramis may or may not direct, original Ivan Reitman may take a crack at it too — he notes that he
co-wrote the story with the aforementioned ‘Office’ writers, and he puts Spielberg & Lucas’ lameduck ideas on blast while he’s at it. Right on the heels of the possible ‘Indy 5‘ no less.

“The Star Trek reinvention worked great because they able to project back in time. We’re not going to tell an origin story of who the Ghostbusters were before you met them in the first movie. But I would hate to do Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. It didn’t seem like there was a lot new going on there — just more of the same and not as interesting.”

Small diss, but it’s there.

Meanwhile Michael Cera, who stars in Ramis’ upcoming, “Year One” biblical comedy alongside Jack Black was asked about whether he would consider appearing in “Ghostbusters 3,” by Moviefone (via /Film) — it will feature a new, younger generation of Ghosbusters after all. Cera always the diplomat has a good dodge answer for that one.

“No. I don’t think so. ‘Ghostbusters’ is too important for me to try and be one. I would feel like a phony. I would feel like an imposter.”

Though he might be completely sincere. He recently told People, ” ‘Ghostbusters’ is kind of like the reason I wanted to be an actor.” Is this the right move? Cera’s been playing that one-note for a while. Pretty soon he’ll find the pool of situations where he can be awkward and fidgety beginning to shrink, and maybe he’ll wish that bustin’ made him feel good. BTW, the new “Ghostbusters” videogame that comes out this week and is supposed to drum up all this interest is really, really mediocre. – Drew Taylor
