There’s still quite a bit of speculation regarding who will become the next James Bond. The presumptive favorite, at least for now, is Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who has been the subject of a ton of rumors and reports. So far, the producers of the franchise have yet to name a replacement for Daniel Craig. But they have said it would definitely be a man. And that’s something one former Bond Girl can support.

Speaking to The Times, actor Gemma Arterton talked about the idea of a woman potentially becoming the new James Bond. That’s not something Arterton agrees with, as she says sometimes tradition is tradition.
“Isn’t a female James Bond like Mary Poppins being played by a man?” Arterton said. “They talk about it, but I think people would find it too outrageous. Sometimes you just have to respect the tradition.”

As mentioned, this isn’t the first time someone has talked about James Bond being a woman. In fact, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli responded to those discussions by saying the next Bond would definitely be a man. Apparently, you can only go so far with Bond.
Arterton also talked about how she finds it confusing that people even ask her about James Bond stuff nowadays.
“I don’t regret doing a Bond film, but I am perplexed why it has followed me around,” she said. “I was only in the film for five minutes.”
For those that don’t remember, Arterton plays Strawberry Fields (gotta love Bond names) in 2008’s “Quantum of Solace.” She isn’t in a lot of the film, so she’s right about that. However, whenever you’re dubbed a “Bond Girl,” that follows you around, for sure.
There is currently no information about when we might see the next Bond film arrive.
