Thanks to the one-two punch of “Top Gun: Maverick and the rom-com, “Anyone But You,” Glen Powell is everywhere now. Just this summer, he has both “Twisters” and “Hit Man” coming to screens. And it feels like everyday a new project with Powell attached is getting announced. But that doesn’t mean the actor is saying yes to everything. In fact, he’s already turned down two massive opportunities.
Speaking as part of a big THR profile, Glen Powell talked about his career up to this point, as well as decisions he’s making about the future. And it appears that he’s already made a couple massive decisions about future projects that will surprise many.
In discussing the films he doesn’t want to do, Powell told THR that he has no interest in Marvel films and Oscars bait projects, which is interesting. Many people are talking about how they don’t want to do Marvel because of such a huge commitment that it requires, but turning down prestige work because you feel it’s Oscars bait is… interesting, to say the least.
So, if he won’t do a Marvel film and he’s not chasing gold statues, what does that leave him? Well, he’s got enough offers that he can actually turn down some massive franchises. First, he said that he turned down a recent offer for a new “Bourne Identity” film. That’s lining up with what we previously reported about the ‘Bourne’ franchise. And second, he’s turned down the chance to star in the upcoming ‘Jurassic Park’ reboot, which was recently announced as starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey.
“‘Jurassic’ is one of my favorite movies. It’s one of the things I’ve wanted to do my whole life,” explained Powell. “I’m not doing that movie because I read the script and I immediately was like, my presence in this movie doesn’t help it.”

He added, “And the script’s great. The movie’s going to fucking kill. It’s not about that. It’s about choosing where you’re going to make an audience happy and where you’re going to make yourself happy.”
If he’s turning down all of these movies, what exactly is Powell saying yes to? Well, it’s been reported that he’s going to star in Edgar Wright’s “The Running Man,” as well as a new J.J. Abrams mystery film. In addition, just yesterday it was reported that he’s going to star in a remake of “Heaven Can Wait.”
As mentioned, you can see Powell in “Twisters” on July 19 and “Hit Man” on June 7.
