Foxx is playing the pivotal role of The Ferryman, but how he factors in the plot isn’t exactly spelled out. Could he be playing the cult leader? In the past, he’s played villains, such as the brutal character Bats in Edgar Wright‘s energetic heist flick “Baby Driver.”

Given the filming will be taking place in Mexico City, there is a large likelihood we could end up seeing more additions to the cast, including Latinx actors. The Mexican location is certainly giving flashbacks to Tony Scott‘s underrated 2004 kidnap and revenge thriller “Man Under Fire,” which paired Oscar-winner Denzel Washington as a bodyguard with a young Dakota Fanning as his client.
