Warner Bros. Adjusts Schedule, Delays 'Godzilla vs. Kong' By One Week & Dates James Wan's Horror-Thriller 'Malignant'

Did you just finish redoing your movie release date calendar for 2021? Sorry, guess again. The latest changes come from Warner Bros. as mentioned by Deadline the studio has pushed back Adam Wingard‘s “Godzilla vs. Kong.” The monster mash movie recently saw its new trailer exploding with record-setting online views and a hot topic on social media. Instead of coming out in theaters and HBO Max on March 26, audiences will be able to gander at the giant monster rumble on March 31.

Godzilla vs. Kong” stars actual real-life human actors that include Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Rebecca Hall, Lance Reddick, Brian Tyree Henry, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Ronny Chieng, Demian Bichir, Eiza Gonzalez, Shun Oguri, and Alexander Skarsgard among others.

Warner Bros. is also dating James Wan‘s original horror film “Malignant” to September 10, 2021. The horror film is expected to take cues from Gallio which is an artful Italian take on the slasher genre made famous by filmmakers like Dario Argento and Mario Brava. Wan returning to his horror roots after launching franchises like “Saw” and “The Conjuring” cinematic universe should make genre fans excited to see what he’s planning to do with “Malignant” before returning the world of DC Comics as he directs “Aquaman 2.”

James Wan took to Instagram commenting on his upcoming film.

“I finally wrapped it last week. This was supposed to be my ‘little horror thriller’ I do between the big ones, but the pandemic pushed it as long the big ones” the filmmaker stated on a post from Twitter.

Wan continues “I’m super excited for this film. I don’t even know how to describe it. I wanted to do something original and genre-bending, and different to my other work, but still in the spirit of the horror-thrillers I grew up with. More to come.”

More release schedules alterations are expected over the coming weeks and months as studios become more skittish about releasing projects during the pandemic.
