Everyone wants their own con. And while Comic-Con usually rules the roost, DCFandome proved this summer, that brands could make their own way. Blumhouse Studios seemingly took cues from Fandome this year and created Blumfest this year around Halloween and their horror brands. The studio teased their upcoming horror films, “Freaky” and “The Craft: Legacy,” and also gave us a new look at next year’s “Halloween Kills.”

“Halloween Kills” was supposed to come out this Halloween, but the pandemic push back killed that plan. Instead, the movie has been pushed to October 2021.

“Halloween Kills” is the follow-up to 2018’s outstanding horror sequel “Halloween.” The film was a triumph on so many levels, because horror sequels, remakes, and reimaginings often suck, and this one was a knock-out. “Halloween” was a midstream-quel, a film that ignored every sequel that originally came and picked up after the first film’s events. A hard feat to pull off, but they did it and then some. Filmmaker David Gordon Green had never directed a horror movie before. Still, he showed his trademark versatility, by not only making an emotionally haunting picture, but one of his best movies ever from an artistic level, and also, his highest-grossing film to date by a wide margin. Two sequels with Green and his Roughhouse production shingle and co-writer Danny McBride, “Halloween Kills,” and “Halloween Ends” were quickly greenlit.

Here’s the official synopsis, but we know from the teaser released this summer that “Halloween Kills” takes place mere moments after 2018’s “Halloween” ends— firefighters putting out the house fire that holds Michael Myers, much to Laurie Strode’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) horror.

From the returning filmmaking team responsible for the 2018 global phenomenon, Halloween Kills is written by Scott Teems & Danny McBride & David Gordon Green based on characters created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. The film is directed by David Gordon Green and produced by Malek Akkad, Jason Blum, and Bill Block. The executive producers are John Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, and Ryan Freimann.
“Halloween Kills” now opens in theaters on October 15, 2021, along with an IMAX release in October 2021. It’s sequel and finale—at least for Jamie Lee Curtis and David Gordon Green—lands in theaters October 22. Watch the new teaser below.
