Got a Tip?

Henry Cavill Makes Superman Return “Official” & Promises More Appearances In The Future

**Spoilers for “Black Adam,” though everyone involved with the film seems perfectly content with spoiling things…**

Overshadowing the promotion of “Black Adam” in the week or so before the release last Friday, the question of whether or not Henry Cavill would return as Superman in the post-credits scene became a huge discussion point. Sure, the Justice Society is introduced in the film. Yes, Dwayne Johnson is starring in his first live-action superhero film, a project he’s worked more than a decade to bring to life. All of that is true, but really the talk was about Superman. Well, fans who saw “Black Adam” over the weekend saw their Superman prayers answered as Cavill once again dons the red and blue suit for another appearance. And according to the actor, this is just the beginning of a new era for the Man of Steel.

In a new Instagram video posted to his account today, Henry Cavill opened up about his cameo in “Black Adam” as Superman. No, it wasn’t just a one-off appearance to help his friend Dwayne Johnson sell some movie tickets. Cavill is officially back as Superman and will, presumably, make some more appearances in the DCEU in the future.

“I wanted to make it official. I am back as Superman,” Cavill said in the video. “The image you see on this post and what you saw in ‘Black Adam’ are a very small taste of what’s to come.”

He added, “I want to thank you guys most of all. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Henry Cavill as Superman. The last appearance was in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” but even that is just a re-edit of the 2017 film, “Justice League.” Since that film’s release, Superman has shown up in “Shazam!” and “Peacemaker,” but it hasn’t been Cavill in the suit, as the character has either been shown from the neck down or hidden in the shadows.

There have been reports that Cavill is set to be the cornerstone of whatever Warner Bros. Discovery aims to do with the DCEU. Obviously, that will include some sort of solo “Superman” film with Cavill as the lead. However, you have to assume it will also include various other cameos and appearances in future projects. “The Flash” seems to be a prime situation for a Cavill appearance.

For now, however, all we can say is that Cavill is back as Superman, and the actor believes this is just Step 1 in a whole new era of Man of Steel stories.
