‘Succession’ Season 4 Teaser: The Roy Family Saga Continues In The New Season Of HBO’s Award-Winning Drama

As Season 1 of “House of the Dragon” comes to a close, HBO subscribers need not wait long for another healthy dose of prestigious family drama set in the world of the wealthy and influential. The trailer has arrived for Season 4 of “Succession,” HBO’s razor-sharp drama slash satire centering on the embittered Roy family, owners of the fictional media empire, Waystar Royco. Season 3 garnered multiple wins at September’s Primetime Emmy Awards, including for Outstanding Drama Series.

When Season 3 ended last December, the family’s domineering patriarch Logan had seemingly alienated all four of his children (Connor, Kendall, Roman, and Shiv) for good, with the help of an unexpected source: his sheepish son-in-law Tom Wambsgans. Season 4 will presumably see Logan’s progeny finally united in the mutual goal of getting even with their hateful father and winning back control of the company in the process. However, “Succession” has never been especially predictable, and the trailer promises plenty of twists and turns before the final curtain.

Here’s the official synopsis for season four:

The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.

The main cast, featuring Brian Cox (Logan), Mark Strong (Kendall), Alan Ruck (Connor), Keiran Culkin (Roman), Sarah Snook (Shiv), Matthew Macfadyen (Tom), and Nicholas Braun (Cousin Greg), have all returned. Macfadyen, in particular, has become a fan favorite and took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Also back for more are Alexander Skarsgard as tech mogul Lukas Matsson, Justin Kirk as seedy Congressman Jeryd Mencken, and Stephen Root as “Future Freedom Summit” organizer Ron Petkus.

Despite the show’s smash success, details of a possible fifth season are still unconfirmed. Writer Georgia Pritchett previously stated the series would go no longer than five seasons, but there’s a strong possibility the story will end with this upcoming season’s finale. “No one’s had their contracts renewed,” Brian Cox told The Times. “We don’t want it to overstay its welcome, like ‘Billions’; that’s past its sell-by date.”

The season four premiere of “Succession” is expected to arrive in spring 2023. Take a peek at the teaser below:
