Have you ever read Victor Hugo’s “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame” and thought to yourself, “Yeah, this is good but it could really use more chase scenes.” Your dream has come true.
Paramount Pictures and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (“Transformers,” “G.I. Joe: The Rise Of The Cobra”) are going to join the Hollywood bandwagon of sourcing new movies from copyright free classics (thanks a lot, “Alice In Wonderland” and “Sherlock Holmes”) by turning “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame” into an action/comedy vehicle. Hooray! We can’t wait to see that wacky hunchback get into some hilarious adventures!
The new project is based on a pitch from the duo of Will Block and Jake Emanuel, who appear to be rookies on the scene. The premise sounds like a cliché of a bad movie idea turned into a bad movie idea. No word yet on how Block and Emanuel jazzed up Hugo’s work, but let’s hope this gets lost in a drawer in Bonaventura’s desk.
