Got a Tip?

‘I Love You Phillip Morris’ Acquired By Roadside Attractions, Will Hit Theaters December 3rd

The saga is over and the long delayed (at least in North America) release of the Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor starring gay romantic dramedy, “I Love You Phillip Morris,” will finally see a release on December 3rd, courtesy of Roadside Attractions.

The story behind “I Love You Phillip Morris” seemed like an affair that would never end. Debuting at Sundance in early 2009, it took four months before no-name distributor Consolidated Pictures Group purchased the rights. Unfortunately, the planned 2010 Valentine’s Day release never happened, and after a couple more announced and canceled dates, and the rights threatened to bounce to Newmarket Pictures. CPG balked at losing the rights, and all parties involved went to court.

With everything now ironed out, it gives indie distributor Roadside Attractions three Oscar contenders this awards season with ‘Phillip Morris’ joining the already released “Winter’s Bone” and the recently announced acquisition of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Biutiful.” [Deadline]
