The marketing for “I’m Still Here: The Lost Year Of Joaquin Phoenix,” the (mock?) documentary chronicle of the actor’s “retirement” from acting and subsequent jaunt into a hip hop career, is fairly simple. The actor himself provided more than enough headlines with his bizarro David Letterman appearance and uh, “interesting” and impromptu hip hop performances.
So no wonder then that his wonderfully ruffled, overgrown visage is front and center on the poster for the forthcoming film. We’re are seriously digging this poster (and the font treatment is aces) and in conjunction with the guerilla marketing campaign it should help drive curiosity in the film. Well that, and Phoenix reportedly “snorting cocaine, ordering call girls, having oral sex with a publicist, treating his assistants abusively and rapping badly” in the film.
“I’m Still Here: The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix,” directed by Casey Affleck, recently scored a September 10th release through Magnolia Pictures but will premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier in the month. [Empire via IMP Awards]
