How do you stop when there is no way out? “It Ends” sees a group of travelers on a nightmarish road trip. The film begins as four friends team up for one last night out after graduation. Soon, they face troubling decisions, consequences, and strange events that challenge everything they know about reality. “It Ends” blends horror, thriller, and comedic elements into a tense psychological journey.
Alex Ullom’s directorial debut gained critical acclaim after premiering at 2025’s SXSW. Ullom also wrote ‘It Ends.’ The Playlist’s Chase Hutchinson praised all aspects of the project. “It’s a simple yet effectively haunting work that’s well-shot, written, and acted across the board,” Hutchinson wrote.

The film relies on four talented performers to help bring Ullom’s creative vision to life. Mitchell Cole, Akira Jackson, Noah Toth, and Phiehas Yoon make up the film’s cast. “It Ends” represents a major moment in all of their careers, with each one turning in praise-worthy performances.
The film’s official synopsis hailing from NEON:
“Some wrong turns last forever. A group of recent grads heads out on a late-night drive for grub, hoping to enjoy one final hangout before their paths diverge. Instead, they accidentally turn onto a never-ending, two-lane hellscape surrounded by untold horrors and cosmic forces beyond their understanding. Cramped together inside a Jeep Cherokee and with the miles stretching infinitely ahead, they face a choice: embrace their new existence or fight to escape it.”
Keith Calder, Jess Wu Calder, Carson Tappan, Andrew Mayne, Roshni “Rush” Bhatia, Ryan Keely, Elle León Nostas, Ben Mekler, and Christopher Amick serve as executive producers on “It Ends.” The film debuts in theaters August 21. Watch the trailer below.
