Chew on that thang! FX‘s long-running satirical series “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” is set to return on July 9, and they’ve released a new trailer for their upcoming 17th season, which is spotlighting another crossover with ABC’s Emmy-winning show “Abbott Elementary,” as the Gang becomes court-ordered volunteers at the school.
We’ll also see Danny DeVito‘s character Frank Reynolds, the immature patriarch of the Reynolds Family (also father to Dennis and Dee), crossing over with another Disney-owned show, becoming a contestant on “The Golden Bachelor” with disastrous and hilarious results, we’re assured.

Seventeen seasons on, the cast remains Rob McElhenney as Ronald “Mac” MacDonald, Charlie Day as Charlie Kelly, Glenn Howerton as Dennis Reynolds, Kaitlin Olson as Dee Reynolds, and Devito as Frank Reynolds as the Gang returns to shamelessly shed their “niche” label for grander aspirations. Alongside the return of series supporting players like Mary Elizabeth Ellis as The Waitress, David Hornsby as Cricket, and Andrew Friedman as Charlie’s Uncle Jack.

In Season 17 of ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia,’ the Gang craves money and parasitic social privileges. That’s been plain since 2005. But they’re also human beings. They crave love, respect, conditional freedom, constant adulation, histrionic amounts of attention, non-stop gratification, and unfiltered, slaphappy eroticism.
Will the Gang’s actions and insanity finally lead to real-world consequences for them, and not just the characters around them? Unlikely, but we can’t help but be amused by the show’s ability to outdo previous levels of cringe and absurdity.
