Okay, someone call The New York Times. I think they might have cloned Jamie Foxx. I have no proof of this, and I don’t know the actor personally, but his schedule is filling up awfully fast and I’m not exactly sure how one person can have this many projects at once. First, there’s “Spider-Man 3.” Then he’s got some vampire project called “Day Shift.” There’s also “They Cloned Tyrone” for Netflix. And now, he’s adding a drama film, titled “The Burial.” Seriously, folks, is this some sort of “Prestige” situation or something?

According to Deadline, Foxx is set to star in “The Burial,” which is a new drama film directed by the indie filmmaker Maggie Betts. The film is based on a New Yorker article by Jonathan Harr and tells the true story of a funeral home owner that sues a rival business owner over a broken handshake agreement. Apparently, the folks behind the film are currently casting the other starring role opposite Foxx. Pulitzer Prize-winner Doug Wright is responsible for the script.
In addition to the aforementioned films, Foxx is set to lend his vocal talents to the upcoming Pixar feature, “Soul,” which is arriving on Christmas Day on Disney+. He also just released his action film, “Project Power,” on Netflix.

Betts is a relatively new filmmaker, in terms of feature films. Her most recent narrative feature is the 2017 Sundance standout film, “Novitiate.” Before that she was probably best known for her 2010 Tribeca doc, “The Carrier.” Clearly, “The Burial” is her biggest project to date.

There’s no release date set for “The Burial” but the film is being produced through Amazon Studios. So, perhaps, this is a feature that has a streaming future.
