Jenna Ortega To Star Opposite Glen Powell In J.J. Abrams' New Film

It appears Jenna Ortega is going to keep signing up for big projects. This time she’s going to star opposite another massive star, Glen Powell, for a mysterious new film.

According to Deadline, Jenna Ortega is set to star with Glen Powell in J.J. Abrams‘ new film. Not much is known about the plot of the film, other than it is not time-travel related. You know how Abrams likes to do things. He loves his mystery box films.

Ortega is probably best known for her work in the Netflix hit series, “Wednesday,” which is still the most watched show on the streamer. In addition to that work, she was co-headlining the recent “Scream” films. I said “was” because she isn’t returning for the next “Scream” movie after her contract was up. As for what she has on the horizon, Ortega is set to star in the upcoming “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.”

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a J.J. Abrams-directed film. The last one he made is “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” which was released in 2019. And for those curious about when he last directed a film that wasn’t attached to a franchise, that was way back in 2011 with “Super 8.” Needless to say, it’s been a while since we’ve seen an original film from the director.

It’s unclear when we might see the new, untitled film from Abrams. But with casting taking place now, you have to assume production could begin before the end of 2024. We’ll just have to wait and see.
