If you thought a TV series about the misadventures of a group of catering employees would be boring, you obviously haven’t seen “Party Down.” The cult classic Starz series, “Party Down,” is one of the most underrated comedies of the late 2000s. Thankfully, even though we have to sift through a bunch of terrible TV revivals in recent years, Starz has understood that the world needs a reintroduction to “Party Down.” And while we’ve already known about the revival for a while now, it appears the upcoming new season of the series is getting an infusion of some serious star power.
According to Starz, Jennifer Garner (“Yes Day”), James Marsden (“Sonic the Hedgehog”), Tyrel Jackson Williams (“Brockmire”), and Zoë Chao (“The Afterparty”) have all been added to the cast of the new “Party Down” revival. Garner, Williams, and Chao are listed as new series regulars for the season, while Marsden is only going to be a recurring guest star.
In the series, Garner is set to play a Hollywood producer who is dating Adam Scott’s character. Williams will portray a wannabe influencer. And Chao is going to play a self-proclaimed “food artist,” who works with the rest of the catering crew. Marsden, on the other hand, is going to portray a big-name, handsome Hollywood actor who is starring in a new superhero film. Obviously, a big departure for the actor.
Other than Scott, returning cast members include Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally.
The “Party Down” revival is currently in production now and Starz has yet to announce a premiere date for the six-episode season.
Here’s a synopsis for the series:
“Party Down” follows a Los Angeles catering team – a sextet of Hollywood wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their “big break.” Each episode of this half-hour comedy finds the hapless catering team working a new event – and inevitably getting tangled up with the colorful guests and their absurd lives.
