Jennifer Lawrence isn’t even 25-years-old yet and she has been nominated for three Oscars, winning in 2012 for the Best Actress in “Silver Linings Playbook.” Thanks to those noms, and her stardom in “The Hunger Games” franchise, she has become a bonafide star, and arguably the most sought after actress in Hollywood right now bar maybe Jessica Chastain or Anne Hathaway. With such stardom comes power and clout.
You’ll remember last year it was reported that Lawrence shot a cameo for the Farrelly Brothers’ sequel “Dumb & Dumber To” starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. Many thought it was a rumor, but it apparently happened.
THR reports that Lawrence’s filmed her cameo in “Dumb and Dumber To,” last year, but she apparently had final approval of whether or not it made it into the film. And so with the rights to nix the clip, she did, and it wound up on the cutting-room floor. But Bobby and Peter Farrelly and Lawrence’s camp deny that claim.
In fact, in a separate piece, a THR writer asks the Farrellys about the cameo and they deny that it was shot, but the trade seems pretty insistent in their original piece on the subject. So did it happen? And perhaps more to the point, do you care and would it even have made a difference?
Incidentally, the Farrelly Brothers have revealed that for the first film Jim Carrey got paid $7 million while Jeff Daniels only made $50,000. Wonder what those salaries are now, and one has to wonder just how much audiences are going to care for this sequel. I haven’t seen the tracking numbers yet, but I’ve heard most predictions coming around $25 million for opening weekend. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was much less, but who knows. Is “Dumb and Dumber To” arriving—like many sequels of late—a decade too late? We’ll see, but definitely sound off below if you feel strongly either way.
