Jodie Turner-Smith Joins Adam Driver & Greta Gerwig In Noah Baumbach's 'White Noise'

Jodie Turner-Smith is definitely an actor on the rise in Hollywood. Thanks to a series of showcase roles in recent projects, the actress has become one of the buzziest working today. And apparently, she’s caught the attention of Noah Baumbach, as the acclaimed filmmaker has picked the actress to work on his next feature, “White Noise,” where she’ll star opposite Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig.

As mentioned, Turner-Smith joins Gerwig and Driver in the cast, according to a new report from Deadline. Already announced as starring in the new film are Raffey Cassidy, Sam Nivola, and May Nivola. The film is based on the Don DeLillo novel of the same name, which follows a professor of Hitler studies (Driver) and his family as they deal with a disaster known as “The Airborne Toxic Event,” which is the result of a rail car accident that spews toxic gas over the region where the family lives. From there, they’re forced to evacuate and confront their own mortality.

Turner-Smith broke out thanks to her starring role in the recent film, “Queen and Slim.” Her most recent feature is “Without Remorse,” which featured the actress opposite Michael B. Jordan. Her next project is the lead role in the upcoming period drama series, “Anne Boleyn,” which arrives later this year.

Baumbach’s new film is very ambitious and reportedly carries an $80 million budget and requires a full 7 months shooting schedule. So, compared to his previous works with Netflix, “White Noise” is a whole different beast.

There’s no release date set for “White Noise.” The film marks the third feature that Baumbach has teamed up with Netflix. Previously, he released “The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)” back in 2017. Then, obviously, Baumbach followed that up with “Marriage Story,” which was an awards darling when it was released in 2019.
