Alright, you know the drill. The Happy Sad Confused confused isn’t taking a break over the holidays, even in the new year. Their most recent talk is a watch-along episode, “John Wick,” by filmmaker Chad Stahelski, for a conversation about “John Wick 4” and everything related. During the episode, the action director spoke about other potential franchises he’d love to do and brought up Marvel’s “Blade” and anything related to Hugh Jackman and “Wolverine” now that he’s back as the character in the MCU for “Deadpool 3.”

A lot of critics often target these kinds of talks as bait, but Stahelski even offered up “Star Wars” on his own without any prompting as something that he’d love to tackle one day. “Everyone’s got their thing, right? Like I’m a ‘Star Wars’ guy,” he said. “The first ‘Star Wars’ changed my life. Maybe someday out there, Disney, if you’re listening… hit me in a couple of years, and I have a couple of takes for ‘Star Wars.’”
Does he have some story ideas? “I do,” he said definitively, “I’d take a swing at that. I challenge you… take a [chance and] if Disney could survive me.”
With the “challenge” part, Stahelski’s probably alluding to the fact that most of his work is R-rated and he has a penchant for only doing things that he has creative control with, but who knows, maybe in a few years, when some of his other projects are out of the way, Lucasfilm might be interested to hear his pitches?
That’s all the Marvel and “Star Wars” talk on the podcast, but clearly, Stahelski is serious about both franchises. The only issue would be timing and the fact that he’s got a lot of franchises already lined up where he has creative control— “Ghost Of Tsushima” is another he brought up that he’s loved working on its development. If Stahelski would toss aside his original projects, one would assume he’d need a lot of creative oversight from Lucasfilm and or Marvel for it to work. Not to mention, there’s a potential “John Wick 5” in the mix there somewhere as well. Stahelski’s next film is supposed to be the “Highlander” reboot with Henry Cavill, but hey, you never know what happens with development hell, sudden offers, and surprise meetings.
