'Joker: Folie à Deux': Lady Gaga Says Her Version Of Harley Quinn Is "Very Authentic To This Movie"

While there are many people eagerly anticipating the release of the “Joker” sequel, titled “Joker: Folie à Deux,” the main point of concern is whether or not the role of Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga, can live up to the expectations. Regardless of your opinion of the film, there’s no denying that Joaquin Phoenix was incredible as the villain in “Joker.” He took home an Oscar for it. And with Lady Gaga having a bit of an up and down acting career, folks are wondering how she’ll approach her character and act opposite Phoenix.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Lady Gaga talked about her version of the Harley Quinn character that we’ll see in “Joker: Folie à Deux.” That is to say, don’t go into the film expecting a completely accurate comic book version of Harley. This version of the character is something new and different.

“You know my version of Harley is mine and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters,” Gaga said. “I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun.”

Not much is known about “Joker: Folie à Deux” at this time. We have seen a teaser for it, but it was difficult to really pinpoint what the plot of the film looks like. That said, she does seemingly confirm the musical nature of the film. Gaga added that the movie “has music and dance and incredible acting.” So, perhaps all the reports that the film is a bit like a jukebox musical is true.

We’ll find out for sure when “Joker: Folie à Deux” arrives in theaters on October 4.
