This is yet another project that Favreau will tackle under the Disney Umbrella. From his two “Iron Man” films and the incredibly popular “Jungle Book” remake, Favreau has been a seen as a perfect fit for Lucasfilm. It looks like Kathleen Kennedy couldn’t agree more.

“I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform,” said the Lucasfilm president Kennedy. “Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”

No word yet on the plot of the series, the release date, the cast, or just about anything about the series. But it looks like Disney is putting together a monster series to become the crown jewel of their streaming service, which already includes Marvel projects and the massive library of Disney (and perhaps Fox) films.
