Jonny Greenwood Confirmed To Score Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Licorice Pizza' As Soundtrack Details Emerge

We are mere days away from the release of Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, “Licorice Pizza.” Well, in select theaters at least. (The full release isn’t until December 25, but I digress.) However, it appears we now have more details on what songs will accompany the feature as part of the period film’s ‘70s soundtrack.

According to Film Music Reporter, the “Licorice Pizza” soundtrack will be released by Republic Records and feature a ton of great artists such as Nina Simone, Sonny & Cher, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, The Doors, and many more. These artists aren’t hugely surprising considering what we know about the film.

“Licorice Pizza” is set in the ‘70s in Southern California and follows the story of a young teen as he navigates the complicated world of growing up and falling in love. So, seeing the aforementioned musical artists feels about right.

Another familiar name for film fans, particularly fans of Paul Thomas Anderson features, is Jonny Greenwood. And the tracklisting for the “Licorice Pizza” soundtrack seemingly confirms the news that Greenwood is composing the score for Anderson’s new film. Previously, the two worked together on features such as “Phantom Thread,” “There Will Be Blood,” “The Master,” and “Inherent Vice.”
