While speaking with NME, Greenwood has dished about Paul Thomas Anderson already emailing him about upcoming projects giving some brief insight on what is next for the musician concerning film scores.

“I’m getting annoying emails from Paul Thomas Anderson about a couple of potential projects! They sound really interesting and peculiar, so I’m thinking about those while I wander around. I really enjoy the thinking time of music, drifting off and wondering how to describe in music what PTA is talking about. It’s very self-indulgent but really fun. I’m an extremely lucky man.”

The assumption here is that the period drama “Soggy Bottom” (working title) is one of those movies. Anderson shot the film during the pandemic with a cast consisting of Bradley Cooper, Cooper Hoffman, Alana Haim, Skyler Gisondo, and Benny Safdie. Though you’d think if he was scoring that film, coming out soon, he’d already be working on it and does projects plural mean, PTA already has follow-up films in the works?

United Artists Releasing will release PTA’s new film on December 25 with a limited release on November 26.

It was impressive when it was revealed that Jonny Greenwood was handling two major scores in a single year. Could Greenwood be able to complete three major scores in 2021? If so, that would be quite an accomplishment for any composer. Fingers crossed.
