Julianne Moore Lines Up 'Kingsman 2' Villain Role, Colin Firth Won't Be Returning

Still Alice-Julianne Moore-68020th Century Fox might be the envy of Hollywood at the moment, having crafted the art of the modestly budget, R-rated hit. Before "Deadpool" become a record-breaking blockbuster this past weekend, they had released the equally high-concept "Kingsman: The Secret Service" the year before, which earned over $410 million worldwide. Naturally, a sequel is one the way, and they are getting a big name for the baddie.

THR reports that Julianne Moore is in talks to play the villain in the picture, which will see Matthew Vaughn return to the director’s chair. No word yet on plot details, but the word is that the story will relocate the action to the United States. Perhaps the most interesting tidbit of all, though, regards Colin Firth. While Vaughn has previously said he wanted the actor to reprise his role even though his character was killed in the first movie, and even had an idea of how to do it, the trade said Firth won’t be returning (apparently, there was talks of using flashbacks or a twin brother device — yikes — but thankfully, those ideas were tossed).

"Kingsman 2" starts shooting this summer, and will open on June 16, 2017.
