“Cobra Kai” may have wrapped up this year, but we’re getting more “Karate Kid” in the new year. However, “Karate Kid: Legends” is something brand-new and not connected to the Netflix hit series.

As seen in the trailer for “Karate Kid: Legends,” the film serves as a sequel to both the original “Karate Kid” and the reboot starring Jackie Chan. However, in the new film, both Chan and Ralph Macchio have to combine forces to train a new young student.

The film stars Chan and Macchio alongside Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. ‘Legends’ is directed by Jonathan Entwistle. The filmmaker is probably best known for his TV work, being the creator and showrunner of series such as “The End of the F**king World” and “I Am Not Okay With This.”
“Karate Kid: Legends” is set to arrive in theaters on May 30. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
In Karate Kid: Legends, after a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown.
