Lady Gaga Gives A Gift To Fans And Releases A Music Video For 'Shallow' From 'A Star Is Born'

I’m sorry that I have to do this, but it has to be done. And frankly, you know you wanted it anyway. Lady Gaga did the Lord’s work today and released a new video for the song that is bound to get stuck in your head for days, “Shallow,” from her upcoming film, “A Star is Born.”

You know the song even if you haven’t seen the film. “Shallow” is the song that is played during the climax of the film’s trailer. The moment when everyone in the theater gets goosebumps and immediately buys their ticket for “A Star is Born.” This is the song that will single-handedly launch the film into box office success (well, combined with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s talent, obviously) and will no doubt be nominated for Best Song at next year’s Oscars.

The video isn’t revolutionary by any means. It’s just the song playing over scenes, mixed with the performance seen in the film. But if you’re excited for the film’s release, this is probably a great way to hold you over until next month. As for the song, it’s obvious you’re going to get a great vocal performance from Lady Gaga. I mean, she’s a world-class singer, right? The real revelation is Cooper.

Bradley Cooper, as Jackson Maine, gives a great performance that shows the actor-director is the real deal when it comes to the musical sections of the film. As he’s said in multiple interviews, he didn’t just learn how to play guitar and piano enough to pass on screen. No, he learned enough to write songs and become the rock star Jackson Maine. And his voice isn’t shabby either.

And yes, I know it seems like hyperbolic to talk about this song the way I have been, but the film is earning rave reviews, the trailer is beautiful, and this song just adds that extra assurance that the music part of this musical journey will be just as strong as we were hoping.

So, enjoy!

“A Star is Born” hits theaters on October 5.
