‘The Last Jedi’ Deleted Scene Gives Us More Phasma And Finn

Remember when ‘The Force Awakens’ was released, and everyone was upset about the lack of scenes for the new villain Captain Phasma? Producers, actors, writers, everyone at Lucasfilm basically told fans that in the next film, we’d finally get our fix of Captain Phasma. Well, when “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” was released, and Phasma’s role was still very minor, fans cried foul. Now, in a ‘Last Jedi’ deleted scene, fans get the chance to see just a little bit more of the chrome trooper.

In ‘The Last Jedi,’ the supposed badass Captain Phasma was dispatched of pretty quickly by Finn. It was anticlimactic, to say the least. But in this deleted scene, we get a little more of their fight, and a few classic “Star Wars” tropes for good measure.

After Phasma and the troopers climb to Finn’s platform, we get a moment where Finn explains to the storm troopers that Phasma was responsible for the sheild’s coming down in the last film. Before they could turn on her, Phasma shoots them, and Finn charges in for the fight. After a quick scuffle, which includes Captain Phasma losing a hand (classic “Star Wars,” right there!), Phasma looks to be close to finishing Finn off, when she calls him “scum.” Finns response? “Rebel Scum!”

Cheesy? Yes. But it’s a scene that might have satiated “Star Wars” fans that were looking for ANY reason to justify their Captain Phasma toy purchases. Sadly, Captain Phasma joins the ranks of Snoke and other characters that fans think were short-changed in ‘The Last Jedi.’ She’ll go down as the Boba Fett of the new trilogy; a character that has one of the best designs, but very little story purpose.

But as fans hold their breath for J.J. Abrams to save the day in ‘Episode IX,’ perhaps dead isn’t actually dead in the “Star Wars” universe and Phasma could return?
