Got a Tip?

Listen: Oscar Isaac Performs Folk Ballad “Dink’s Song” From ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’

nullThis Christmas will mark whole two years since the last Coen Brothers' film, an absence that's somewhat foreign to us consdering the pair had a prolific run of consecutive films between 2007 and 2010 with "No Country For Old Men," "Burn After Reading," "A Serious Man" and "True Grit." While we've been working under the impression the brothers' latest effort, "Inside Llewyn Davis," would be unveiled next year at the earliest, star Oscar Isaac has thrown a spanner in the works as he recently "hinted that we may indeed see the Coens' movie by year's end although they've yet to announce who may be distributing it domestically."

Is Isaac just being overly optimistic? Or does he know something we all don't? With the fall festival season wrapping up, the only major fests that remain are the New York Film Festival and AFI Fest. The former has already pretty much locked down its lineup, but could the latter sneak 'Davis' into the schedule? We're intrigued by the possiblity of any sort of surprise release before year's end, and we'll see how this plays out, but it's one to keep an eye on.

Isaac's potential revelation came at a recent event for Jamie Linden's drama "10 Years" where he performed with an acoustic guitar (he sings in both films). Among the tracks he played was rendition of folk ballad "Dink's Song" that features in 'Llewyn Davis.' The song has been covered by a variety of artists in the past including Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley and Dave Von Ronk — who, coincidentally, is the inspiration behind Isaac's character. That performance can be heard below along side Von Ronk's original version and another live rendition of the track by Isaac along side Marcus Mumford (of Mumford & Sons fame), the husband of Carey Mulligan, who reunites with Isaac on the Coens' pic after Nicolas Winding Refn's "Drive."

Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund, John Goodman, Stark Sands, F. Murray Abraham, Adam Driver and Jeanine Serralles round out the cast of "Inside Llewyn Davis" which hopefully will be coming sooner than we expected. [ComingSoon]
