Mark Hamill “Regrets Voicing Doubts & Insecurities” About 'The Last Jedi'

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Santa Claus has come and gone, and brave souls battled Boxing Day sales, and here we are still talking about “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Rian Johnson‘s envelope pushing franchise entry has dismayed some fans with its supposed rule breaking, and even Mark Hamill has spent much of the press tour around the film, candidly revealing he was initially not on board with the arc for Luke Skywalker. His hero of the original trilogy returns, now in exile, emotionally wounded, and eventually dies after confronting his former student, Kylo Ren.

“I almost had to think of Luke as another character. Maybe he’s ‘Jake Skywalker,’ he’s not my Luke Skywalker. But I had to do what Rian wanted me to do because it serves the story well. Listen, I still haven’t accepted it completely, but, it’s only a movie. I hope people like it. I hope they don’t get upset. I came to really believe that Rian was the exact man they needed for this job,” Hamill explained during a press junket interview.

Indeed, those words “he’s not my Skywalker” have become a banner for certain megafans who would prefer nothing else than ‘The Last Jedi’ be dropped from the official canon. Well, Hamill is feeling bad about the storm he’s contributed to with his words, and used the holiday break to express his regrets about what he said, on Twitter.

So, at the end of the day, it looks like Hamill is firmly #TeamLastJedi. However, that won’t stop the debate around the picture.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is now playing everywhere.
