'Marty Supreme': Gwyneth Paltrow Joins Timothée Chalamet In Josh Safdie's Upcoming Film

Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t do much acting anymore. In films, outside of documentary work and Marvel, her last non-MCU narrative feature was 2015’s “Mortdecai.” But apparently, all it took was a Safdie brother giving her a call to get her back on the big screen.

According to A24, Gwyneth Paltrow is set to star opposite Timothée Chalamet in the upcoming film, “Marty Supreme.” Not much is known about the film at this time, other than the fact that ping pong plays a large role in it. The film is directed by Josh Safdie, with a script written by him and Ronald Bronstein.

As mentioned, Paltrow’s acting work over the past several years has been relegated to Marvel (2019’s “Avengers: Endgame”) and one TV series (2019’s “The Politician”). For the past decade, Paltrow has basically been known as an influencer and the co-founder of Goop, a company that focuses on health and beauty products. So, it’s interesting to see that she’s come back for this film.

“Marty Supreme” marks the first solo narrative directorial outing for Josh Safdie. Previously, he teamed with his brother, Benny, to direct films like “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems.” In addition to his new ping pong movie, Josh Safdie is said to be working on a new film with Adam Sandler. However, it’s unclear when we might see work begin on that, as he has moved on to “Marty Supreme.”
