Next year is a big one for Marvel Studios. Not only do they have a new “Captain America” film with Anthony Mackie taking on the reins, but there’s also “Thunderbolts*” and, of course, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” It’s that latter one that really is most important for the studio, as it finally introduces characters that people have been dying to see in the MCU. And according to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, once we see the characters in ‘Fantastic Four’ get introduced, they’re going straight into the next ‘Avengers’ movies.

Speaking at the Disney APAC Content Showcase (via Deadline), Kevin Feige teased what’s to come with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He talked about all of the 2025 film offerings mentioned above, and when it came to ‘Fantastic Four,’ the executive talked about how they’re also going to be players in the next ‘Avengers’ films, ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars.’
“Finally, [we’re] bringing Marvel’s First Family into the MCU,” said Feige. “They wrap next week, the movie comes out next summer, and then all those characters go right into the next ‘Avengers’ movies, so I’m very excited for the future of the Fantastic Four.”
Speaking of ‘Secret Wars,’ it appears that the next ‘X-Men’ film won’t actually get released until after the sixth ‘Avengers’ film. But that doesn’t mean you won’t see some ‘X-Men’ characters scattered throughout the movies as we move forward now.
“I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize,” said Feige. “Right after that, the whole story of ‘Secret Wars’ really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.”
It really sounds as if the overriding theme of the post-‘Secret Wars’ MCU is going to be integrating the X-Men into the universe. That would probably add fuel to the fire of those who are predicting an “Avengers vs. X-Men” film is going to happen. But we still have years to wait before that might happen.
Until then, you can see “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” arrive in theaters on July 25, 2025.
