Well, we recently weighed out the odds of what Ridley Scott would be directing next out of the many, many, many things he's attached to and this one came out on top. And we couldn't be more excited as "The Counselor" seems to be moving full steam ahead to start shooting this spring and it has locked down the leading man.
Deadline reports that Michael Fassbender — first rumored just over a week ago — is to take the lead in the film, and it's moving fast. Penned by Cormac "I Hate Semi-Colons And Exclamation Points" McCarthy, the script is an amped up "No Country For Old Men"-esque tale that follows a lawyer who naively gets involved in the drug trade and finds himself caught up in a desperate situation. But it's not all gonna be testosterone telling the story, as there are two female leads that are reportedly integral to the movie.
May 1st is now pegged as the start date for the project with apparently a bevy of "high-profile actors" all seeking roles in the movie. Frankly, this is the most exciting project Scott has undergone in years (and yes, that includes "Prometheus") so we're stoked it's actually happening (and soon), and of course, we couldn't be happier Fassbender is going to lead the charge.
