Michael Moore Discusses Roseanne Barr & Donald Trump Documentary 'Fahrenheit 11/9'

Oscar winner and documentary filmmaker Michael Moore has been busy working on his latest project,  a new semi-secret documentary.  Until recently, all that was known about the film was a tie-in between recently-disgraced actress Roseanne Barr and Donald Trump. Now, Moore has revealed more about the project in a recent interview with Stephen Colbert.

The film is entitled “Fahrenheit 11/9,” an obvious reference to the day Donald Trump became President of the United States in 2016, and a callback to his Palme d’Or-winning 2004 doc “Fahrenheit 9/11.

According to Deadline, the film now has an official release date for September 21, obviously just a few short weeks before the all-important November midterm elections. Open Road founder, Tom Ortenberg, under a new distribution shingle Briarcliff, will release the feature.

The inclusion of Barr is new to what was previously thought of the film; that it would be focusing solely on Trump and his Presidency. Back in May, Moore teased the documentary and how it would put Barr on blast, writing on Facebook:, “Roseanne, the vicious slur at me you retweeted yesterday — if I had the time I’d sue you and drain you of every dime you have. But I’ve got a better idea. As they say in the movies: one down, one to go.” Roseanne Barr, you’ve been warned.

Moore didn’t stop there. He followed that post with another and a video from Barr’s talk show “The Roseanne Show” from 1998. In the clip, Barr is seen interviewing Moore — she refers to the filmmaker as “my blue-collar panelist” — alongside one Donald J. Trump. Moore concluded his post by saying, “I know Roseanne. I know Trump. And they are about to rue the day they ever knew me.”

Fahrenheit 11/9” was unveiled last year at the Cannes Film Festival as a Weinstein Company project, but following the revelation of Harvey Weinstein’s exploitation and abuse of women, TWC was removed and the documentary was completely reworked. Moore gave an impassioned monologue on the state of affairs in the country on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” You can watch the interview below.
