Michelle Williams Is Just As Clueless As The Rest About What Was Going On In 'Venom'

Though we know Michelle Williams’ performance in “Venom” wasn’t the most memorable, it looks like even she doesn’t remember any of it either. In a recent interview with Variety, when asked if she knew anything about a “Venom 2,” Williams responded with laughter.

“I don’t even know much about Venom 1!” she laughed. “No, no, I don’t know anything about it…”

Michelle Williams is widely considered one of the greatest actors of our time, working in indie films like “Blue Valentine,” “Brokeback Mountain,” and “My Week with Marilyn,” for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress. Taking on the Marvel anti-hero film was definitely a little out of her zone.

Though she had her reasons, we can all agree that Williams seems much more comfortable in her preferred independent dramas. “Venom” is the first superhero movie Williams has starred in during her acting career, and it looks like it won’t be her last.

Williams isn’t the only one to be confused by the entire premise of the Sony/Marvel anti-hero film. Critics and the public alike walked out of the theater full of adrenaline and not a clue as to what happened in the past 2 hours. Glaring plot holes, brilliant special effects, lots of action and info at once left people with a lot of confusion, and it looks like the actors are on the same page.

Still, the box office turn-out was good enough for the confirmation of “Venom 2,” with no title yet but a release date set for October 2, 2020. Many of the cast, including Michelle Williams and Tom Hardy, have already signed on for the sequel, so Williams could have just been artfully dodging the question Variety posed. Honestly, we think she was being entirely truthful in her confusion of the gloriously crazy movie.
