Got a Tip?

Mickey Rourke Says ‘Passion Play’ & ’13’ Are “Terrible,” Takes Back Nice Words About Megan Fox

Did someone forget to butter Mickey Rourke‘s popcorn at the “Scream 4” premiere last night? Or was he as disappointed as we were in the lacklustre horror sequel? Who knows, but when chatting with Vulture at the after-party, the actor decided to dispense with Hollywood courtesies and drop some truth bombs all over the place. Charlie Sheen, eat your heart out.

When asked about “13,” the English-language remake of Géla Babluani‘s own 2005 film with a host of actors including Sam Riley, Jason Statham, Ray Winstone, Michael Shannon and 50 Cent (who was hosting the after-party, which opens up a whole other world of questions), Rourke said bluntly that it’s, “A really bad movie” that is “Terrible.” So why did he do it? “For the money.” Okay then.

But Rourke didn’t stop there. As for “Passion Play,” which got savaged by critics at TIFF, he said, “Terrible. Another terrible movie. But, you know, in your career and all the movies you make, you’re going to make dozens of terrible ones.” It gets a very limited release next month before going to DVD a few weeks later and that’s no surprise to Rourke who says, “That’s because it’s not very good.”

And Megan Fox, who he once said was “the most talented actress I’ve worked with,” gets a bit of a diss as well as Rourke smirked that the emphasis was on the “I’ve worked with” part — Meryl Streep you need to give this guy a ring. But hey, it’s not all dark clouds for Rourke who says his long gestating biopic about gay rugby player Gareth Thomas is gonna rock. “That’ll be a great movie. We start shooting February.”

See the terrible “Passion Play” when it opens on May 6th or save yourself some money and rent it on May 31st. Either way, you know what Rourke thinks about it.
