It’s true that the streaming TV side of Apple has yet to release an episode of any of their announced series. However, with the talent collected, there’s no way this venture will fail, right? One of their series is the Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon drama about morning TV. And if those two A-listers weren’t enough to sell you on the TV series, maybe the series’ director will sway you.
The Wrap is reporting that legendary TV director Mimi Leder has signed on to direct the upcoming drama. The series is said to follow the lives of the morning television personalities that “wake up” with viewers every day. The untitled drama from Apple is based on the book “Top of the Morning” from CNN media reporter Brian Stelter.
Leder has a TV pedigree unlike many. She’s been nominated and won numerous Emmys and DGA awards. She has directed episodes of series such as “Shameless,” “ER,” “The West Wing” and most recently, “The Leftovers.” Leder is also putting the finishing touches on her latest feature film about Ruth Bader Ginsburg, titled “On the Basis of Sex,” which is getting awards buzz.
As mentioned above, Apple has been killing it with the names they’ve secured for their latest TV streaming venture. There are no release dates known as of yet, but the first shows are expected to premiere sometime in 2019.
