We’re six months away from the release of “Mission: Impossible 6” so it’s about time we got a title and some actual details about the latest franchise entry. Well, they’ve arrived and it all sounds very… “Mission: Impossible“-y. That’s not a bad thing.
From henceforth, you can now call the upcoming adventure involving Ethan Hunt, “Mission: Impossible — Fallout.” However, if you’re looking for some in-depth story details, that’s not gonna happen. The official synopsis is pretty vague, which actually makes a lot of sense, given that this series, at least under the current leadership of writer/director Christopher McQuarrie, is built around setpieces first, with a plot made up along the way to stitch it all together:

The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.
