There have been some stellar collaborations between musicians and filmmakers over the years. The forthcoming feature directed by Jonathan and Josh Baker, “KIN” promises to be no exception. Mogwai, the U.K. post-rockers who have scored the movie, is releasing the official motion picture soundtrack for audiences before the film’s premiere.
Formed in 1995, Mogwai has had a successful career, and this isn’t their first soundtrack; they famously co-scored Darren Aronofsky‘s “The Fountain” with Clint Mansell, the director’s go-to composer, and the Kronos Quartet. With ten albums and LPs, the group began working with the Baker brothers on the soundtrack for the film earlier this year. Mogwai had recently released one song from the film entitled “Donuts.” Adding to that list, the band also debuted the end title song, “We’re Not Done,” which you can listen to below.
When talking about their work on the soundtrack, Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite said, “ We were really excited to be asked to record the original score for Jonathan and Josh Baker’s debut movie ‘KIN.’ It was amazing to do a project that was so different from anything we’ve done before and see how our music fits in a totally different environment to how it’s been used before. The music in the film is some of my favorite music Mogwai has ever made, and we can’t wait for people to hear it .”
