Marvel‘s Phase 4 finally launched last year, and the driving force of this sequence of films/shows is to introduce lesser-known superheroes into the fold. So far, that’s included the likes of Shang-Chi, the titular team in “Eternals,” and Kate Bishop and Echo in “Hawkeye,” among others.

Now it’s time for one of Marvel’s weirdest lower-tier heroes to make his entrance this March. “Moon Knight” stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, an ex-CIA operative who gets swept up in a war between deities after he becomes a conduit for an ancient Egyptian moon god, Khonshu. Sound a little out there? It gets better: Spector also suffers from DID, and his superpowers, if they could be considered that, are his multiple personalities.
Here’s the show’s official synopsis:
The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.
“Moon Knight” also stars Ethan Hawke, Gaspard Ulliel, and May Calamawy. Hawke used cult leader David Koresh as inspiration for his role, a fitting nod given the show’s material.
Jeremy Slater helms “Moon Knight” as showrunner, with Egyptian director Mohamed Diab and the filmmaking team of Justin Benson & Aaron Moorehead directing episodes. Benson & Moorehead are great fits for the show, as viewers of their films “Synchronic” and “The Endless” will attest.
The six-episode series starts off year two of Phase 4 with its debut on Disney+ on March 30. After that: “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness” on May 6. Check out the trailer for “Moon Knight” below.
