Apple’s critically acclaimed series “The Morning Show” is back for a second season. Set in the world of morning news programming, ‘Show’ explores timely interoffice conflicts and the truth behind famous personalities. A focus on current events became even more pronounced last year as the pandemic struck. Filming was delayed, resuming later in 2020 with an emphasis on altered storylines. The results have given the project a new direction that builds on a strong first season. “You’re just taking the best guess of what you think will be an effective place to go with the storytelling and let the characters guide you,” Executive Producer Kerry Ehrin told the LA Times last year.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon return as leads at odds with themselves and an ever-changing work environment. Last season saw Aniston’s Alex Levy and Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson confront the chaos surrounding sexual assault allegations. The striking end scene left viewers wondering whether both would keep their place on UBA news or if their challenge to those involved would succeed in cementing their status. Steve Carell is also set to return, a surprise to viewers who may have thought his arc would run through only one season.
