Most Anticipated 2024: 27 Blockbusters & Big Spectacle Movies To Watch

10. “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley
Almost 30 years after “Beverly Hills Cop III,” Eddie Murphy and much of the original cast return for a long-overdue fourth edition about Axel Foley investigating corruption with his daughter (Taylour Paige) and her ex-boyfriend (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). Franchise originals Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, John Ashton, and Bronson Pinchot return alongside Mark Pellegrino and Kevin Bacon.
Release Date:  TBD via Netflix.

9. “The Beekeeper”
Suicide Squad” filmmaker David Ayer returns to nuts and bolts action with this Jason Statham thriller about a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as “Beekeepers” who is on a campaign of brutal vengeance. Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, Minnie Driver, Phylicia Rashad, Jeremy Irons, and more co-stars.
Release Date: January 12, via Amazon MGM Studios.

8. “Argylle”
Following the popular ‘Kingsman’ series, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn tries to launch yet another spy franchise “Argylle,” based on author Ellie Conway’s debut novel. The stacked cast includes Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson. The movie follows a world-class spy suffering from amnesia, tricked into believing they are a best-selling spy novelist.
Release Date: February 2, 2024, via Apple TV.

7. Sonic The Hedgehog 3
After a bumpy start (the original VFX ripped apart online by fans), the “Sonic The Hedgehog” franchise recovered well, proving to be decent four-quadrant family fun. Director Jeff Fowler returns for part’ 3,’ so does Ben Schwartz voicing Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey voicing Tails and Idris Elba voicing Knuckles. James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Lee Majdoub reprising their roles too, but it seems like Jim Carrey may not have returned as Dr. Robotnik.
Release Date: December 20, 2024, via Paramount.

6. “Venom 3”
Sony’sVenom” films have done financially well but have always been something of a mess. In what sounds like a unified front, “Venom 3” is the directorial debut of the franchise’s screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who co-writes the film with its star Tom Hardy. Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor will appear in undisclosed roles. It’s unclear if Michelle Williams will return for the third installment, but it sounds like no, and little, if anything, is known about the plot or direction.
