Got a Tip?

‘Nancy’ Trailer: Identity And Impersonation Is At The Heart Of This Award-Winning Thriller From Sundance

Have you ever wondered if those age-progression pictures of missing children ever help? You see them from time to time when news organizations try to update a case from years ago. In the new film “Nancy,” a woman notices that she bears a striking resemblance to a missing child’s age-progressed picture. However, from there, everything just goes off the rails.

“Nancy,” which won an award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, follows the titular woman as she discovers that she looks just like a missing person. As she introduces herself to what could be her long-lost family, questions start to arise about her motives and, ultimately, her sanity. The newly-released trailer for the thriller shows the basic premise but then shows how Nancy seems to be a different person to the many people in her life. The question arises – who exactly is Nancy?

The film stars Andrea Riseborough, J. Smith-Cameron, Steve Buscemi, Ann Dowd, and John Leguizamo. “Nancy” is the feature film debut for writer-director Christina Choe.

“Nancy” is scheduled for release on June 8.

Here’s the synopsis:

Blurring lines between fact and fiction, Nancy becomes increasingly convinced she was kidnapped as a child. When she meets a couple whose daughter went missing thirty years ago, reasonable doubts give way to willful belief – and the power of emotion threatens to overcome all rationality.
